Feeling Trapped in Emotional Chaos

Life can sometimes feel unbearable, like you're stuck in a constant emotional storm. You might find yourself battling feelings of intense sadness or anxiety, feeling like you don't belong, or even feeling so overwhelmed that you’ve thought about self-harm or suicide. Relationships with friends and family may feel strained, filled with misunderstandings, arguments, and loneliness. It’s as if no one truly gets what you're going through, and you're exhausted from pretending everything’s okay.

You want to be able to handle tough situations without feeling like you’re going to explode. You want to get through school or hang out with friends without that constant weight of stress or fear of conflict. Instead of feeling misunderstood, you want stronger relationships with people who really get you. You’d give anything to know how to manage your emotions when they hit hard and learn how to deal with life better, without so much suffering and pain. You’re here because you’re looking for that change, and we’re here to help you find it.

Break Free from the Chaos

Now imagine what life could be like if these intense emotions no longer controlled you. With our DBT program, you’ll learn practical skills to manage those overwhelming feelings and gain control over your emotions. You'll begin to understand why you feel the way you do and discover new ways to navigate difficult situations with your friends, parents, and even within yourself.

In our multi-family DBT skills group, you'll not only learn alongside other teens but also with a parent or caregiver, building stronger relationships and communication skills that help everyone involved. Individual therapy will give you a safe space to work through your personal struggles, while 24/7 phone coaching means you won’t face tough moments alone anymore.

As you practice these skills, life can become more stable. The feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, and anger will begin to fade, replaced with a sense of confidence, connection, and hope. Relationships with friends and family can improve, and you’ll find yourself handling stress and emotions in a way that brings you peace. You’ll start to feel more understood, not only by others but by yourself too.

The journey isn’t easy, but by working with us, you’ll have a team of dedicated therapists guiding and supporting you every step of the way. You’ll develop the tools needed to create a life you want to live, where you're no longer trapped by emotional chaos but empowered by emotional balance.

With the right support and the skills you’ll learn in DBT, you’ll begin to feel more in control of your actions and decisions. Imagine waking up and actually being able to focus on school without feeling constantly distracted by your emotions. You’ll start noticing that when you’re upset, you can calm yourself down without shutting everyone out or exploding at those around you.

You’ll also find yourself handling tough conversations with your friends or family more smoothly—without it always turning into a fight or awkward silence. You’ll be able to ask for what you need, say “no” when you mean it, and feel proud of how you handle difficult situations. Through therapy, you'll gain practical tools to help you stay focused, manage stress, and get through challenges without falling apart. Instead of constantly feeling overwhelmed or out of control, you’ll be able to make decisions that help you feel better in the long run.

Life won’t feel so chaotic, and you’ll be able to find moments of fun and connection with the people around you, without things spiraling out of control.

How Does Teen DBT Therapy in Cincinnati Work?

Our Teen DBT program is designed to provide a well-rounded, supportive framework to help you navigate emotional challenges. We use a combination of four powerful modes of treatment to ensure you get the most out of your therapy experience, whether you’re engaging in Comprehensive DBT with us or attending individual therapy elsewhere.

    1. Multi-Family DBT Skills Training Group
This group brings together teens and their parents or caregivers to learn DBT skills in a supportive environment. Each week, you’ll practice skills like emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and effective communication alongside your family and other teens facing similar challenges. This group dynamic fosters better understanding and stronger relationships between you and your parents, giving everyone the tools to work through conflicts and improve communication.  Much of the real learning will occur outside of group as you practice the skills in your daily life and report back to the group on how it went. Whether you see one of our therapists for individual therapy or work with a therapist outside of our practice, you can participate in our multi-family group for teens.
    2. Individual DBT Therapy
You’ll meet one-on-one with your individual therapist to apply DBT skills to your personal struggles and receive a personalized approach to healing. For teens participating in Comprehensive DBT with us, individual therapy is tailored to your specific challenges, whether you're managing intense emotions, navigating difficult relationships, or dealing with self-harm or suicidal thoughts.  Teens who are attending individual therapy outside of our practice can still benefit from our group skills training while continuing to work with their own therapist, and our team will collaborate with your therapist when needed to ensure the best care possible.
    3. 24/7 Teen & Parent Phone Coaching with Your Therapist
    4. Life doesn’t wait for your next therapy session, and we understand that. That’s why teens who participate in Comprehensive DBT with us, meaning they attend both our group and see one of our therapists for individual sessions, have access to 24/7 phone coaching with their therapist. If you find yourself in a crisis or struggling to use your skills in real-time, you can reach out to your therapist for immediate guidance and support, ensuring you’re never alone when it matters most. Parents of teens in the Comprehensive DBT program also have access to 24/7 parent coaching from our skills trainers, helping them use DBT skills to support their teens in the moment. However, this free 24/7 phone coaching service for teens and parents is only available to teens who see us for both multifamily skills group and individual therapy, so if you're working with an outside therapist for individual therapy, this phone coaching service is not available from our program.

    5. DBT Therapist Consultation Team
    6. Behind the scenes, your therapist is part of a DBT consultation team that meets regularly to discuss clients and ensure they’re providing the best care possible. This team of DBT professionals supports one another in refining treatment approaches and ensuring you’re getting the highest quality of therapy, tailored to your needs.

Whether you're doing Comprehensive DBT with us or attending our teen multi-family skills group while working with a therapist outside of our practice, our program offers a supportive environment for building lasting skills to manage emotions, improve relationships, and create a more balanced life.

Our clinicians are dedicated to and passionate about providing DBT according to the researched model.  All of our clinicians receive extensive DBT training and participate in ongoing weekly training to continue to strengthen their skillsets.  All of our DBT therapists are active members of our DBT consultation team.  We are a community of therapists who treat a community of clients, and we'd love to welcome you into that community.
